Bill Menor settled land in 1892 next to the Snake River by “squatter’s rights,” running a ferry at what was for many years the most important river crossing in Jackson Hole. The building was built in three different phases. The smaller log section was the original log cabin and was built in 1895 and the middle portion about 1895. The larger portion was constructed about 1905 and served as a store. Besides the store and ferry, Menor raised subsistence crops and had a blacksmith shop. The homestead is now part of Grand Teton National Park.
