Discovered by the Lewis and Clark Expedition during their portage around the Great Falls of the Missouri River in 1805. Produces an measured flow of 156 to 190 million gallons of water a day. Giant Springs overflows into the Roe River, officially measured at 201 feet and recognized as the shortest river in the world. The Roe flows into the Missouri.
