topic: Row

January 5, 2007, 3:15 PM - Pentax K10D: ISO 1600, 55mm focal length (82mm in 35mm format), 1/45 second, F 5.6

I used to know what all these lights, switches and indicators do and indicate. This picture was taken in the nuclear power plant simulator where I used to work and teach.

2007-01101.jpg The lower picture of the simulator was added after the first 9 comments. The top picture was taken of a section of panel in front of and slightly to the left of Rob, the student standing up. The class is in the middle of a casualty scenario and the reactor is shut down.

What a technical view on “row”. Amazing to see all those control knobs and switches. Great photo. Have a happy weekend. Mine is up also, please stop by. http://kissedalotatoads.blogspot.com

I really like this photo, but I sure would be afraid I’d be the one who pulled the wrong switch! =) Have a great weekend…and trip, too! Wow - 7 weeks!!!

wow, that is a great shot. I wouldn’t know which one to press!!

  4. #4 Melli says:

Hm. I think we’re probably all just happy that those lights are on and indicating WHATEVER it is they indicate! If someone was taking the time to take a picture then it was probably all working properly and everyone was relaxed! ;)

    Thanks for stopping by!
    The river IS the Susquehanna!

  5. #5 Mike Goad says:

I took the picture and it was in the simulator on a break between scenarios. (Even though I’m retired, I actually stopped in there today and chatted with some of my former students and co-workers.)

Oh, my, I could never handle a job like that. I’d be fearful of accidentally pushing the wrong button (like I do when typing). :)

  7. #7 ipanema says:

Nice shot but like the others, I am afraid I’d switch the wrong one. :)

  8. #8 Linda says:

That looks like an awful lot of switches to know what they all do! That’s pretty scary actually!

  9. #9 BlurMommy says:

That’s a lot of switches & buttons!! I’m glad I’m not the one handling them! : ) Very cool photo!

I feel cold, just looking at them :P

I’m tempted to say doh !!! Then again there’s a distinct lack of doughnuts.

  20. #20 Mike Goad says:

I can honestly say that I’ve consumed (more than) my share of donuts both in the simulator and the actual control room at the plant - and I have never watched a single episode of the Simpsons. Maybe, now that I’m retired…

    wow
    wow again

I am so impressed. Those control panels seem overwhelming to me, but thank goodness there are folks like you who know what they are doing. I’m glad you added the 2nd photo.

  22. #22 jeannie says:

awesome rows - I would be intimidated by all those buttons!!!

  23. #23 Terry (planet3rry) says:

Funny… I am a recovering Nuclear Engineer (at least by education) and your second picture brought back memories of being up on the controls… ahhhh… the good old days.

The first picture is absolutely beautiful! Great composition!!!

    Have a great weekend!

  24. #24 Presentstorm says:

That is quite impressive and has my vote for most original photo yet :)

I am not sure if that is the Exxon building or not. I hardly go downtown… I try to stay away. Traffic is horrible.

I got to visit the control room where sons worked in navy on a ship visiting the area here. Looked just like a bunch of video games to me! Good entry for this theme.

    Come visit mine.

    Hi Mike,
Sorry for seeing your post soooo late; there was a typo in your link (you typed michaelgaoad.com ;) ) and I didn’t take the time to investigate. I thought you were a fraud (spammer) LOL!
These are awesome rows by the way!!

  28. #28 SabineM says:

Came via Sabine in Gozo (I am Sabine in California!)
I love this photo of row. I missed it last week! I am glad I caught it this week!
